As you might notice it has been 3 months that we last made a blog entry, but we are going to try again to stay current and post what we hope will be useful content. Our last post in October was about western Washingtons first winter storm of the sesason, well another winter storm has hit our region the last couple of days and that is what I am posting  again today. A major snow storm has closed Snoqualmie pass a 72 mile streach in fact after the pass recieved 12 inches of snow in 24 hours and  had an avalanche. The forcast is calling for another 8 to 24 inches in the next 24 hours.

This is a grim reminder as we try to let motorist know that winter travel is unpredictable and the importance of having proper supplies is so important. If you are planning a trip short or long make sure you have water, food, extra clothing and blankets. Check out our store for other useful tools  such as a shovels, flashlights and more.

Until tomarrow be safe.

The news reports on studies of preparedness for a terrorist attack are grim. We all should be preparing for the possibility of future terrorist attacks. There are steps we all can take to prepare ourselves our famililies and our communities for any future attacks.
The first step you need to do is determine what events are most possible in your community, it is important to talk about these emergency situations with your family and work place.

Develope a disaster plan:
1. Choose an out-of-town contact your family will call to check on each other should a disaster occur. An email is a good way to connect with this contact person as phone lines may become overloaded.
2. Have a predetermined meeting place:
Having a meeting place away from home will save time and confusion should your home be affected or your neighborhood evacuated.
3. Purchase or make a disaster supplies kit:
If you need to evacuate your home or "shelter in place" having the proper supplies will give you and your family a better chance of survivng it. You might want to create a safe room that you can seal off with duct tape and plastic. Of course this is what LmdDisasterSurvivalKits.com specilizes in, so purchase your kits before disaster strikes and custom make it with your special needs, each member of your family should have there own and add medicine, important documents, change of clothing and other important needs.

What to expect:
Listen to your radio or television for instructions.
Follow the advice of local emergency officials.
Give first aid to those who might need it.
Invetigate your home. Check for gas leaks, only use a flashlight.
Call your emergency contact.
Check on neighbors and render any assistance you can.
Be listining for instructions from emergency officials.

I know this question was more based on protective clothing and breathing protective masks. There is protective gear available and if you would like to purchase this gear we can help you find what you need. At LmdDisasterSurvivalKits.com we do carry some products that will get you started. For most of us being aware of what can happen and preparing for it, can give us peace of mind and make a stressful situation easier to deal with.
Thanks for you your post. I hope to hear more from you out there.

Until next time Be Safe And Gear Up!
