| Prepare for disasters and emergencies with survival kits, supplies and the knowledge to survive. | |||||
Entry for March 17, 2008 Atlanta Tornado ![]() You just never know where or when a tornado will strike, that is so common with so many disasters. As you might of heard or read downtown Atlanta was hit Friday night. This storm according to the National Weather Service had winds of 130 miles per hour. It hit a very heavely used area of Atlanta, the Georgia Dome and the Georgia Aquarium just to name a few. There were games going on in the Georgia Dome and Phillips Arena, probably good thing that the tornado didn't hit either during the ingress or egress putting lots of people in harms way.
The deadliest tornado to hit a US city in recent history was in Waco, Texas and that happened in May 1953 and it took 114 lives. Lets hope that future tornados stay away from populated areas. I do however feel as if I am going to be talking a lot about tornado's, and I will keep saying preparedness is so important. All of us need to be able to take care of ourselves if help is slow to arrive. The survival kits you purchase or make should be a combination of survival gear to help in all emergency situations. Look to LmdDisasterSurvivalKits.com to help you prepare, we have been taking lots of orders for survival kits and NOAA alert radios. And we have just created a special survival kit and NOAA radio/T.V. combination, so check that out at our store. One last note this morning, I wanted to mention that Oregon had its second earthquake off its coast in recent days. So let that be a reminder that preparedness is important everywhere in our country and around the world. If you want to add to our blog please feel free to step in, let people know about your emergency preparedness or any other important information you would like to share. Until next time take care and Happy St Patrick's Day! 2008-03-17 07:50:17 GMT
