I was fortunate enough a last year to make friends with a photo journalist, disc jockey and all around eye opener of what he calls the "matrix of confusion" Lan Lamphere. I recently received a link to some work that he is doing after the wake of Hurricane Ike and is as he always seems too is bring to our attention the complete story or at least the observations that he has made covering this tragedy. I am writing this so as I can share with you a part of the whole picture you might not see else where so please take a look and read for yourself.

Lan Lamphere

Please visit our store at
LmdDisasterSurvivalKits.com

Prepare, even if it is just one item at a time. We all must start somewhere and instead of waiting for another day, prepare a little at a time. Start with some five year shelf life water boxes or maybe some food bars. Maybe you can purchase a kit a month. Start with the kids and work your way to yourself. Just start somewhere. It is only a matter of time until a disaster happens in your area. Visit us for all your preparedness needs LmdDisasterSurvivalKits.com

Ok so we have all been told we need to have a survival kit so we may be able to take care of ourselves if help is slow to arrive. So what should be in our kits? Well to start with water is the most important, as a rule of thumb you should have at least one gallon of water per person per day. Have canned food on hand, long life food bars make sure you have enough for each member of your family for a minimum of three days and do not forget about your pets. We carry all the supplies and survival kits you will need at. LmdDisasterSurvivalKits.

I could give you a list of supplies that go into our kits, but why don't you click the link above and see what goes into our kits and next time I will list the items. Keep in mind it takes time and money to puy all the items together yourself, that is why it is best to buy a pre made kit.

Until next time take care.

Yes it has been some time that I have wrote, we have been very busy and are continuing to grow each day, so thanks for all your support.

I want to talk basics again and maybe go with it over the next few weeks. When I say basics I mean "it's never too early to prepare" and we all need to start some where. We all know disasters can happen without warning and we never know how when or where. When disaster strikes it is a good chance that emergency responders will be overwhelmed and it may take some time to get to you. That is why it is advised by experts to "make a plan, build a kit (or buy one), and stay informed".

Make a plan

You and your family may not be together when disaster strikes. Having a good communication plan in place will make it possible for you to meet in a predesignated area or having an out of state contact that you all can check in with. It will be most likely easier to make a long distance call then it will be to make a local one. Practice different situations that might happen in your neighborhood.

Well next time we will start on building a kit or buying a premade kit such as ours and I will explain what items are in the kits and why we use the items we do. Take care and be safe . You can check us out at LmdDisasterSurvivalKits.

Last month the USGS reported that California has 46 percent chance of a 7.5 or larger quake in the next 3 decades, and that it most likely would hit Southern California. This quake has been dubbed the "Big One" and now scientist have created a scenario of what might be expected.

Imagine a 7.8-magnitude quake that last for three minutes, highways break apart, high rises collapse and older buildings fall apart. Major fires erupt and not enough firefighters to handle them all, then the Santa Ana winds flare up spread the devastation from property to property. Hospitals are overwhelmed as over 50,000 seek medical attention.

This is just a quick overview of what could happen and as I have said in the past a wake up call for all of us, it could California or your state. I know it is a concern up here in the Pacific Northwest. Wherever you are get your survival kits put together and stock up on supplies as often as you can look to us for your survival gear LmdDisasterSurvivalKits.

Another round of tornadoes hit the Midwest states this morning, it seem that it is almost becoming a daily event. A tornado like many disasters can and will occur without warning. Of course predicting and warning residence of a storm potential is becoming more accurate and getting the word out is easier. I hope all of you have supplies and a NOAA weather alert radio. If you do not please visit us for lifesaving supplies.
